Upfront, a show on Times now, where seasoned journalist Sudha Sadanand provokes, stimulates and confronts the top stories of the day without being diplomatic. What is news to you? Does it come with a shelf life? l As a channel, TIMES NOW believes in reaching out to the urbane audience. For us, news is something which can involve even the uninitiated. It does not have a shelf life, because it can come back to you just like a historical context does. Do you create an opinion through Upfront, or do you influence it?
l On my show Upfront, I focus on issues that have national importance and which influence the lives of people across the nation. We do not influence people. Instead, we try and present news in a factual manner that is distinctive, relevant and appealing to the urbane viewer. At TIMES NOW, we believe in a healthy debate, and Upfront tries to be a forum on the days talking point. How important is it to 'feel'the news before presenting it?
l It is extremely important for every journalist to be in the loop of news, 24 hours in a day because as the day progresses, you see different nuances of news. News first breaks and then evolves through the day. Any particular moment in all these years of breaking news that was a turning point? l The Gujarat riots in 2002. The anguish of tremendous loss, coupled with the hunger to present this in a proper perspective drove me to better myself each day. I did it with the belief that India as a democracy will overcome such aberrations. asish.samanta@timesgroup.com
